Long term courses are organized to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the officers, so that they could contribute more to the organization.  The objective of Long Term Course(s) is:

  1. To prepare participants to make a greater contribution to better governance;
  2. To facilitate in developing an improved understanding of the dynamics of development processes;
  3. To enable better analysis and creative abilities individually as well as to team work;
  4. To strengthen leaderships qualities;
  5. To equip public administrators with skills in quantitative and management techniques and information technology;
  6. To provide greater exposure to the recent developments in the social sciences and their application in administrative.

2.

Advance Professional Program in Public Administration at Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi.

(i) Minimum 7 years of Service
(ii) Dy.S.P. & above
(iii) Below 50 years (53 for SC/ST)and should not have undergone programs of duration - 12 weeks or more  in India during a period of 5 years preceding the date of commencement of this program

3.

One Year Diploma Program in Public Policy and Sustainable Development/ Two Year M.A. (Public Policy and sustainable Development) Degree Program at the TERI University, Delhi

One year diploma/ 2 year MA

(i) IPS officer having Seven years Group ‘A’ service or DS/Director (2IC and above in CPOs) having 18 years of service.
(ii) Below 50 years of age as on  the date of commencement of course/53 years for ST/SC

4.

 National Defence College Course, New Delhi

11 months

(i) IPS having 16 years of service or DS/Director (2 I/C and above in CPO) of 18 years of service
(ii) Below 50 years of age (53 for SC/ST)

5.

Post Graduate Program in Public Policy & Management at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

12 months

Should meet the selection criteria of IIM, Ahmedabad and
(i) Minimum of 7 years of services
(ii) Dy. S.P. & above
(iii) Below 50 years of age (53 for SC/ST)

Post Graduate Program in Public Policy and Management, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore

 

2 Years

Should meet the selection criteria of IIM, Bangalore and
(i) Minimum 7 years of Service
(ii) All India Service officers/ 
     S.P. & above     
(iii) Below 50 years of age (53 for SC/ST) and should not have undergone 12 weeks or more program duration in India during a period of 5 years preceding the date of commencement of this program

7.

Post Graduate Diploma Program in Public Policy and Management at Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon

12 months

Should meet the selection criteria of the MDI, Gurgaon and
(i) Minimum 7 years of service
(ii) Dy. S.P. & above
(iii) Below 50 years of age (53 for SC/ST)

8.

MBA (Disaster Management) – Weekend Program – Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi.

2 Years

Should meet selection criteria of GGSIU, Delhi and
(i) Minimum 7 years of service;
(ii) Sub-Inspector & Above
(iii) Below 50 years of age (53 for SC/ST)

9.

Management of Public Policy Program (MPPP) at Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad

12 months

Should meet selection criteria of ISB, Hyderabad and
i) Officers should have completed 5 years of Group ‘A’;
ii)  Below 50 years of age (53 for SC/ST);
iii) Should not have undergone a training program of 12 weeks or more duration in India during a period of 5 years preceding the date of commencement of the program

BPR&D bears the cost of Course fee only.  Other related expenses such as Pay & Allowances, Internal & Foreign Tours programs, Travel expenses from place of posting to venue of the Institute & back & other charges of whatsoever nature has to be borne by the sponsoring authority of the nominated officer.
